Projectiles-Big Lube (TM)
45 ROA Big Lube (TM)
Another one of my favorite bullets. This 210g conical is made to substitute the
round ball in a Ruger Old Army(TM) percussion pistol. Very accurate and capable
of shooting a lot farther that you think!!
I'm a true Black Powder guy myself but I have crushed a 30 grain BP substitute
pellet under one of these and WOW! No one on the entire range will doubt you
hit that piece of steel.
These are sized to.454 for a perfect press fit in your ROA(TM) cylinder.
(There is a ROA 2 that is coming soon with some small improvements but for
pistol work this puppy is a Hoss.) Huge lube groove eliminates crossfire so you
just powder and press with no wads or messy manual lubing. In pure lead it
would make a good hunting bullet.
SASS pard, Dirty Dan Dawkins and I are
working on seeing if we can make a Plainsman/Renegade Bullet for his 45-70
Remington out of this. It drops at about .457depending on alloy which should in
most all cases be pure lead. We will keep you posted. Sold in 50 count trays.
Update: Worked very well as a Plainsman(single shot) type round. LITE recoil
with good accuracy. I am also loading this bullet in 45 ACP. As I shoot more
with it I will update but so far it makes a neat little mil-spec looking round.
As cast comes lubed through a die with minimal sizing depending upon alloy and
size dropped from mould.

45cal-EPP-150-Ultra Gamer
This bullet was developed by the late SASS pard, El Paso Pete, whom I am told
was an engineer by trade. He developed this bullet almost as a joke... like an
aeronautic engineer designs a flying brick. Thing is.... he succeeded!
The goal was to build the benefits of a Big Lube(TM) bullet into a light bullet
that emulates a standard lead round ball for the Ruger Old Army(TM). It does
that very well sized at .454 and then does so much more. Because of it's light
weight and good accuracy you can pump up the velocity without too much recoil.
The result is it shoots like a laser.
It can be sized to .452 or .454 and loaded into 45 Long Colt and really shines
loaded into Cowboy Special Brass. With a full case of FFF Black powder it can
exceed 1000fps in 45 Long Colt.
It will work for 45 Schofield pistols. It even
had a flat spot added to the tip because Cowboys Shooters liked it so much they
wanted to modify their lever rifles to shoot it's short AOL.
I don't believe
all of it's uses have been discovered yet. Dick Dasterly..who created Big
Lube(TM), even uses it in his Muzzleloader. I can only find 2 things that are
not perfect about this bullet. It IS a brick, so like a round ball, it is going
to fall off hard at 100 yards and it won't fit under extended rammers on my
Rugers ROA's(TM) that I use to allow compression on light powder loads. Not a
problem if you load your cylinder in a press. Other than those 2 small
concessions it is one of the best 45 caliber Black powder bullets ever. A
fitting tribute to leave behind for an engineer. Sold in 50 count trays.

38 cal-158g Snakebite Grease Wagon
This is one of the original Big Lube(TM) bullets to be developed by Doug
Gilmore aka SASS member"Snakebite". It has a long oglive to allow it to have an
overall length that is appropriate for rifles and pistols that were designed to
shoot .357 magnum. Its crimp groove will give you the right AOL for .357 which
comes in real handy for a lot of Marlin rifles that like the .357 AOL.
Bullet
designs like this have become known as "Marlin Bullets" because of this
tendency to dislike 38 special AOL in 38/357 Marlin rifles. For 38 special AOL
you can crimp on the oglive with 38 special brass and then use the minimum
Black Powder loading without the need for a wad or filler.
Increase the powder
load for the .357 crimping and it is nice and lively in a light pistol. Or you
can crimp on the oglive with .357 brass to obtain a 38 special AOL. Huge lube
grooves hauls the grease so all the wonderful benefits of Big Lube(TM) bullets
are maintained.
Heavy enough to handle any knockdown and very accurate so you
can hit them. Nice thing about a heavier bullet is you can reduce velocity and
still maintain accuracy and hitting power. I've seen ultra light 38 bullets
change point of aim by 6-8" This bullet shoots right where I aim it in my Ruger
New Model Vaqueros(TM). Sold in 50 count trays.
